Come and stay for the weekend at The Oak House, an historic seaside home in Oak Bluffs on Martha's Vineyard Island, enjoying water views and small balconies overlooking the sound. Lay back and watch the world go by! Enjoy the charm of yesterday's lazy summer days, and the comfort of today. The Oak House was built in 1872 as a summer home for Massachusetts Governor Claflin. Named for the oak paneling throughout its rooms, The Oak House has kept the fine tradition of the Victorian era in so many areas, you will think you are stepping back in time! Beautiful leaded-glass windows and a large sun porch filled with wicker rockers will allow you to enjoy views of the white sandy beaches, the blue ocean lapping on the shore, and sailboats passing slowly by to unknown destinations. The Oak House is a spacious ten bedroom home (formerly a bed and breakfast, but now the private home of a local business owner), with a full view of Nantucket Sound right across the street. The weekend stay includes two nights for two adults with your own private bath, any time this summer or fall, subject to availability. The Oak House is not a B&B, but coffee and muffins will be available in the dining room in the morning, and a full breakfast is a short stroll down the shore.
